ALBUM NOTES

Slayer’s sixth studio album peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, selling over 93,000 copies in its first week. The album’s themes were based in the grim realities of a violent society more than the supernatural or demonic imagery of their previous work. Divine Intervention includes the song "213," named after serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer's old apartment number. The album’s shocking lyrics resulted in a ban in Germany. While bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam were dominating the industry, rather than falling in line, Slayer responded by diving deeper into being the heaviest thrash metal band they could be. The result was Divine Intervention.
