ALBUM NOTES

Slayer began writing songs for the album almost immediately after completing the South of Heaven Tour, resulting in the band’s fifth studio release, Seasons In The Abyss. Seasons expanded upon the slower, moodier direction of South Of Heaven, and explored even darker lyrics, meditating on the horrors of the war, nuclear destruction, street violence, and murder. The title song’s video was filmed in Egypt and showed the band thrashing in and around one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Kerry King remembered to gain access to these hallowed spaces, “We bribed everybody with porn and cigarettes. It’s amazing the doors those open.”
